Manual Logging Overview
If manual activity logging is enabled for a challenge, users can log activity by "manually" inputting their activity data directly via the Count. It app, or via their connected fitness app manual logging form. By default, Count. It accepts all activity logged by a user. However, some admins may wish to prevent users from logging activity manually, or simply to flag manual entires that have been made.
Pro Tip: The manual entry setting can only be changed during challenge creation. Once the challenge has begun, this setting is no longer accessible.
Three Types of Fitness App Logging
Fitness tracking apps supported by Count. It, (e.g. Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Health, etc.), allow users to log activity in several ways:
Method | Description | Activity |
Fully Automatic | No data input or action is required by the user. | Steps Cycling (some trackers) Swimming (some trackers) |
Semi Automatic | The user selects the activity type and must press "Start" and "Stop" to log the activity. | Exercise (all types) Meditation
|
Manual Entry | The user selects the activity type and then must enter all relevant details including time, rep count, distance, etc. | Exercise (all types) Meditation
|
For data sync'd via fitness apps, the manual entry preference set for a challenge affects only the "Manual Entry" category of sync'd activity logs.
Setting the Manual Entry Preference
During challenge creation, Admins can change their manual entry preference to block manual entries, or simply to flag them. This setting is accessible via the challenge creation screen, and looks like this:
What the preferences mean:
Count all logged activity: Users can log activity manually via the Count. It app, and/or via any connected fitness apps. All relevant logged activity earns points.
Count manual entries, but flag them: User can log activity manually via Count. It or via a connected app, and those entries will be flagged visually with a note on the activity log. All relevant logged activity earns points.
Do not count manual entries: Direct activity logging via the Count. It app is disabled. Count. It will display manual entries sync'd from connected fitness trackers, but no points are earned.
In most cases, we recommend leaving the manual entry preference set to "Count all logged activity." This is especially true for challenges involving exercise. Not all challengers have wearable devices, and many may prefer not to carry their phone during workouts. To get full credit, these challengers will need to enter their activity data after-the-fact.
How to check the status of manual entries in a challenge?
To check the status of manual entry logging in your challenge, open the "Challenge Info" screen by tapping the "i" icon at the top right of the challenge screen. Then tap to expand the Points card. The manual entries status will be displayed within the Points card as follows:
What does the manual entry "flag" look like?
When an activity log entry has been made manually, either via the Count. It app, or via a connected fitness app, the note "This is a manual entry." will appear in the Notes section of the activity log details. To see this screen, simply tap on any activity log.
