Troubleshooting Google Health Sync Issues

Count. It connects directly to Google Health. Let's get your data flowing.

Google Health users can easily connect their Google Health app to Count. It via the Count. It trackers page.

Step 1: Confirm Your Device Is Syncing to Google Health

First, verify that your wearable (Pixel Watch, Fitbit, or phone sensor) is actively sending data to the Google Health app:

  1. Open the Google Health app on your phone.

  2. Confirm your device is paired via Bluetooth and synced.

  3. Swipe down on the home screen to force a sync with Google's servers.

  4. Verify that today's steps and activity are accurately reflected inside the Google Health app.

Note: Google Health syncs via the cloud, so data must reach Google's servers before Count. It can retrieve it.

Step 2: Connect Google Health in Count. It & Grant Permissions

To make sure Google Health is properly connected to your Count. It account:

  1. Open the Count. It app (or log in via the web).

  2. Go to the main menu (three horizontal lines at the top left) → Trackers.

  3. Toggle the Google Health connection to On (if already on, toggle it off and back on).

  4. When prompted by Google, sign in with the same Google account you use for your fitness tracking.

  5. Important: Be sure to accept all requested permissions, including Profile data and Activity & Exercise data.

Step 3: Resolving the "Not Linked to Google Health" Error

If you receive the error message: "This Google account is not linked to Google Health. Link it at Google and connect again."

Why this happens: Google requires that the Google account being connected has an active health profile set up on Google's end. If this is your first time using Google's health platform with this email address, Google blocks third-party connections until the profile is initialized.

How to fix it:

  1. Open your browser and visit https://fitbit.google.com/auth/signup.

  2. Sign in with the same Google account you are trying to connect to Count.It.

  3. Complete the quick profile setup and accept terms.

  4. Once your dashboard is active, return to Count. It → Trackers and turn on Google Health again — the connection will now authorize successfully.

Step 4: Sync Your Challenge in Count. It

Once connected:

  1. Open your Challenge screen in the Count. It app.

  2. Tap the manual sync button (🔄) in the lower-right corner.

  3. Give it a moment — cloud data can take a brief minute to calculate and update your challenge leaderboard.

Alternative Syncing Options

Count. It is flexible! If you prefer not to connect directly via the Google Health cloud connection:

  • On Android: You can sync through the Android Health Connect hub. Enable Health Connect under Count. It’s Trackers menu (see our Health Connect guide).

  • On iPhone (Google Health → Apple Health): You can bridge your Google Health activity into Apple Health, and then connect Apple Health to Count. It:

    1. Open the Google Health app on your iPhone.

    2. Tap Connections → Apps and services (or tap your Profile icon → Partner apps).

    3. Select Apple Health and grant permissions to allow data sharing.

    4. In Count. It, turn on Apple Health under Trackers.

Still Not Seeing Your Data?

  • Wearables and missing steps: Make sure your watch or wearable (Pixel Watch, Fitbit) has completed its Bluetooth sync to your Google Health app while connected to Wi-Fi. Google's cloud API only delivers consolidated activity, so data must reach Google's servers before Count. It can retrieve it. Once synced in Google Health, tap the manual sync button (🔄) in Count.It.

  • Check for multiple Google accounts: Confirm that your Google Health app and Count. It are authorized with the exact same Google account (e.g. personal Gmail vs work Google Workspace).

  • Confirm challenge dates: Activity only counts toward challenges that have officially started and are currently active.

  • Verify activity type: Ensure your tracked activity matches the challenge rules (e.g. Daily Steps vs. Workouts/Exercise).
