Troubleshooting Fitbit Sync Issues

You earned the points, now let's make sure you get them!

Updated this week

Fitbit is one of the most popular wearable trackers, and Count. It connects directly to it via the cloud. If your steps or workouts aren't showing up, follow these steps to get back on track.

✅ Step 1: Confirm Your Fitbit Has Synced to the Fitbit App

If you're using a Fitbit device (watch or band), the first step is to confirm that it has synced with the Fitbit app on your phone:

  • Open the Fitbit app.

  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and your device is paired.

  • Swipe down in the app to force a sync from your wearable.

☁️ Step 2: Confirm Your Data Has Reached Fitbit’s Servers

Even if your device syncs to the Fitbit app, the data may not yet be in the cloud — and Count. It needs to access that data via Fitbit’s servers.

  • Go to Fitbit Web Dashboard and log into your account.

  • Check that your recent steps or workouts are visible.

✅ If you see your activity there, it means Fitbit has your data — and it should be available to Count.It.

🔐 Step 3: Reconnect Fitbit in Count. It and Grant All Permissions

To double-check the connection and permissions:

  1. Open the Count.It app.

  2. Go to the Trackers screen.

  3. Toggle the Fitbit connection off, then back on.

  4. Log into your Fitbit account when prompted.

  5. Important: Select all data sharing permissions, including:

    • “Profile”

    • “Activity & Exercise”

🔒 Privacy Note: Count. It uses your Fitbit data only to calculate your challenge results. We never share or sell your data. Read our Privacy Policy.

🔄 Step 4: Sync Your Challenge in Count. It

Once connected:

  • Open your challenge screen in the Count. It app.

  • Tap the manual sync button (🔄).

  • Give it a minute — Fitbit syncs via cloud, so updates may take a few moments to appear.

🧠 Still Not Seeing Your Data?

  • Make sure you’re using the same Fitbit account when logging into the Fitbit app, web dashboard, and when connecting to Count.It.

  • Reboot your phone and open Count. It again to force a new sync attempt.

  • If all else fails, disconnect and reconnect Fitbit one more time and re-check permissions.
