What is the Consistency view, and how do I run a "streak" challenge?

Sometimes your total points are not the point!

Updated yesterday

Overview

Challenges based on a cumulative points over time are great, (i.e. for steps or exercise minutes), but sometimes a the point of a challenge is to consistently achieve a daily or weekly goal — and not simply to binge on some days and bust on others. This is particularly true for activities where maxing out the points isn't really, uh, the point. (Think: "Meditate for 15 mins per day," or "Drink 64 oz of water daily.")

To reward consistency, Count. It has invented the Consistency view.

Like all Count. It visualizations, the Consistency view allows users to see their progress in context with that of other challenge participants. Think of this as "social streaks!" Patent pending. 😉

How does the Consistency view work?

In any challenge with a structured daily or weekly goal, Count. It tracks how many days (or weeks) during the challenge each user has achieved the goal. Participants move up the Consistency "ladder," rung by rung based on the count of days or weeks they have successfully hit the goal.

Example:
Imagine a one week "10,000 steps per day" challenge. In this case, each participant has seven opportunities to achieve the goal. On each day that the user hits 10K steps, their day count increases by one. If a person achieves the goal on five days during the challenge, they will make it to the "5 Days" card. If they hit the target on all seven days, they will make it to the final "7 Days" goal!

How are people ordered in each step of the Consistency view?

On the Consistency view, each card in the vertical stack corresponds to the number of days or weeks completed. In any given card, participants are ranked from left to right based on their total points in the challenge. If there are more participants than can be displayed in the card, simply tap the card to view the overflow screen!

How do I access the consistency view?

To see your challenge's Consistency view, simply open your challenge, and tap on the "view switcher" button.

Then tap the "Consistency" view button. (Note: If you do not see a Consistency view button, your challenge may be a "Total" or "Custom" challenge.

Creating rewards for Consistency

In any challenge with a Consistency view, the challenge admin can create rewards for consistency. Individual participants can earn a reward for completing all or some of the days or weeks of the challenge. Consistency View FAQ

Which Goals Have the "Consistency" View?

All challenge goals that have a structured daily or weekly target, e.g. "10,000 steps per day," or "Exercise 30 mins, 3 times per week."

Which goals do not have a consistency view?

"Total" goals, which combine points from multiple activities, do not have a Consistency view. Also, "Custom" goals, which set a target for the full duration of the challenge do not have a "Consistency" view.

What happened to the original challenge path?

The original challenge path, which we now call the "Total Points" view, is still there! You can toggle between them simply by tapping the view switcher button and then the related buttons. All challenges get a "Total Points" view, and some also get the Consistency view. The two work together and complement each other.

Do I need to hit a goal every single day or week to succeed in a Consistency challenge?

No! Unlike a traditional "streak," your count of days or weeks does not reset to zero if you miss a day. Just keep going! Your mission is to hit the goal as many times as you can. Your challenge admin can assign rewards to any level of progress, i.e. all the way to the top, or even just part of the way.
