With challenge series, you can create recurring weekly or monthly challenges while tracking progress over longer periods, like a month, quarter, or year.
Shorter challenges drive higher engagement: people stay motivated when they can see the finish line. Plus, in any challenge, some participants may have a few bad days, get discouraged, and check out. With recurring weekly or monthly challenges, there’s always a fresh start coming soon.
Any challenge can easily be turned into a challenge series. A series allows your group to see cumulative individual and/or team performance across all editions of the challenge.
Set up a repeating challenge
When creating a challenge, you’ll be prompted to set the start and end dates. After entering the end date, you’ll see options to set a recurrence:
Repeat when finished
Repeat calendar month — only shown if your challenge runs exactly from the first to the last day of a month.
When one edition begins, the system creates a new “Coming Soon” edition on your group homepage. All goals, rewards, users, and teams automatically roll over from one edition to the next.
Pro Tip: In a challenge series, you can edit the name, description, rewards, and teams. You cannot change the challenge duration or the challenge goals.
Any changes will carry over when the next “Coming Soon” challenge is created. However, if the new edition has already been created, updates to the prior challenge will not transfer—you’ll need to make them manually in both editions.
Track performance across the series
Participants can view cumulative individual or team performance via the series leaderboards, accessible in the Finish screen. To find them, tap the Finish area of any challenge series, then select the Series tab at the top right.
Turn off a recurring challenge
To stop a challenge series, set the recurrence preference in your “Coming Soon” challenge to Does not repeat. This prevents future challenges from being created.
You must do this before the current “Coming Soon” challenge starts and a new one is created. If a future challenge has already been created, just delete the extra “Coming Soon” challenge to end the series.
